Osteopathy is a manual form of medicine that focuses on treating the structure of the body, to improve or normalise function. The structures of the body that an osteopath is able to treat may include the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, bones, fascia, nerves, and lymphatic vessels.
Osteopaths use manual or hands on techniques directly to these structures, with the aim of decongesting the tissues to improve circulation. This helping hand allows the body’s own inherent self correcting mechanisms to then restore balance within the tissues, and allow the whole system to move towards an optimal level of function.
Common conditions that may benefit from Osteopathy include:
Low back pain
Neck pain and headache/TMJ dysfunction
Shoulder pain including Rotator Cuff injury
Paresthesia in the arms and legs
Elbow pain such as tennis/golfers elbow
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Hip complaints
Knee problems
Foot and ankle problems
Heel pain/plantar fasciitis
Muscle and tendon strains/tears
Ligament sprains
Postural issues have a significant impact on your bodies’ ability to function efficiently, and in a pain free way. Nothing in your life has more influence on your posture than nutrition. Beau may give dietary advice as a part of your consultation.
Normal function of the body supports a happy, healthy and pain free life. Osteopathy may help you move towards that.
