We have four amazing Massage therapists working at the centre.  All our therapists have many years experience and their own personal way of working but we can guarantee you will not be disappointed. While they are all able to give a strong firm massage, they are all able to give an ultimately relaxing treatment.

Massage is beneficial for pain management, chronic back and neck tension, injuries and trauma, stress relief. It can also be just for pure indulgence and relaxation. Regular massage treatments are valuable for maintaining health and well-being as well as helping prevent or reduce flare-ups of chronic musculoskeletal conditions. One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm.  This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of well-being.  Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norephinephrine, are also reduced, helping those with sleeping problems, anxiety, exhaustion and poor immunity. Various techniques are used by our practitioners and will be discussed with clients before the treatment begins.   Deep tissue, trigger points, cupping , cranio-sacral therapy and gentle relaxation massage can be used, depending on what you need and want on the day.

Types of massage available:

Pregnancy Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is safe and beneficial for both Mother and baby.  During different stages of massage, some women may feel discomfort in the lower back, may suffer from sciatic pain, get aching legs or feet, cramps,  fluid retention, insomnia or just feel generally uncomfortable at times. Massage is beneficial for all of these conditions, relaxing those muscles that typically tighten during pregnancy, relieving discomfort and pain. Regular massage during pregnancy supports both mum and baby, leaving you calm and rejuvenated. Depending on the stage of pregnancy, you may be required to lie on your side during the treatment.  Our practitioners have special pillows and bolsters to support women in this position so it is comfortable and there is no pressure or stretching in the already softening ligaments.

Post-Natal massage will support the recovery process and help relieve tension from breastfeeding.

Samila Blow also works with women after C-section. This massage will include assessment of the scar and gentle hands on work to enhance the healing process, reduce adhesions, associated body pain and improve scar appearance.

Cupping

Cupping therapy dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures.  One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians were using cupping therapy in 1,550 BC.  When combined with remedial massage, cupping aids in the release of trigger points, increasing blood flow to the area and releasing toxin.  For most patients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation.
